Eleanor Roosevelt was ever vocal on the civil rights agenda and interacted with many leaders as Mary McLeod Bethune in particular. She went as far as pressing FDR to work on policies addressing the racial gap and gave support to anti-lynching bills despite the liberalization of southern Democrats on the matter.
